Day 1: Arrival in Cusco

  • Pachamama Yoga Retreat begins with your transfer from the Cusco airport to a lovely hotel, conveniently situated off the historic Plaza de Armas. Plan to arrive into Cusco by 11a.m. to acclimate to the altitude.

  • Meet your guide in the hotel lobby for a brief group orientation meeting. Late afternoon walk through the cobblestone streets of San Blas, where your guide will point out fascinating Inca stonework en route to the Korikancha Temple, the holiest site during Inca times.

  • Welcome Circle with Megan and Jen

  • Fresh, delicious Peruvian dinner.

Day 2: Cusco & Sacred Valley

  • Twice daily yoga and meditation with Jen and Megan.

  • Visit the Inca site of Saksaywaman, overlooking the city of Cusco. Continue on to the ritual fountains at Tampumachay. Participate in a ceremony to honor Yaku, the spirit of water, to open the body’s chakras. A traditional coca leaf ceremony invites you to tap into the presence and energies of Pachamama, Mother Earth.

  • Have lunch at a café of your choice, and shop in the main square of Cusco.

  • Drive to Willka T’ika in the Sacred Valley through spectacular Andean mountain scenery. After a brief intro by the guide and leader, the Willka T’ika Quechua staff will welcome you to the retreat center, and help you schedule time for Andean spa services and the use of the beautiful yoga, meditation and ceremonial spaces.

  • Group Dinner at Willka T’ika

  • Twice daily yoga and meditation with Jen and Megan.

  • This day is dedicated to Pachamama, Mother Earth. Relax in the splendors of nature and enjoy a tour of the Seven Chakra Gardens. Optional private coca-leaf reading with an authentic Qero healer visiting from the high Andes. Optional guided walk through nearby Rumichaka farming neighborhood where the Quechua campesinos, farmers live.

  • A day of “Ayni” - Quechua word for mutuality, reciprocity, or selfless service, meaning “today for you, tomorrow for me.” Drive through the Sacred Valley to a Quechua mountain school supported by the nonprofit Willka T’ika Children’s Fund (WTCF). Since 1995, Willka T’ika has supported high mountain communities, where few tourists are privileged to visit. In a reciprocal ayni exchange, the group offers an activity the children can enjoy. The warmth and heart-warming joy of the children, and their openness in bringing guests into their daily lives are special moments not easily forgotten.

  • Riverside lunch.

  • Continue to the spectacular ruins of P’isaq, overlooking impressive Inca terraces. Hike to the Temple of the Sun and walk in a silent personal vision quest.

Jen Fortin
ERYT200 Yoga Instructor

Jen Fortin, E-RYT200, began her yoga journey in 2010 after the birth of her son. Yoga brought her a sense of peace and self discovery that she had never experienced before. Jen knew very quickly that sharing yoga with others was going to be her life’s passion.

While working on her personal training certification in 2014, Jen took a chance and added a Hatha Yoga teacher training to her radar. Quickly thereafter she began working with private clients for both yoga and general health and fitness. Jen was invited to work with the former professional soccer team, the Carolina Railhawks (now NCFC), focusing on yoga for athletes, including injury prevention, muscular recovery, breath work, joint health, and improved flexibility and mobility.

In 2015, Jen decided to take her yoga for athletes teachings a step further and embarked on studying with Sage Rountree in Carrboro, North Carolina, completing her Yoga for Athletes teacher training. Soon after, Jen continued to learn under Sage and her team earning her RYT 200.

In the following years, she has worked with various collegiate athletic teams and a wide range of individual athletes from Crossfit to golfers and everything in between. Jen loves to work with athletes, but has also been known to dive into teaching a fun, strength building power class; yoga for beginners; and wide range of yoga fusion classes including ballet barre, suspension trainer flows, balance board yoga, yoga with weights, and more!
